How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a quintessential holiday film, and one Texas city is putting its very own spin on the fictional town of Whoville this holiday season. Downtown Houston has been transformed into “Hou-Ville,” a whimsical world filled with Texas-sized toys, festive photo-ops, and even appearances by the Grinch himself.
It appears Mr. Grinch wasn’t successful in his quest to steal Christmas—in fact, “Hou-Ville” is more festive than ever this year!
Facebook/Hou-Ville Brand new for 2020, the exclusive underground lounge 40 Below has been transformed into a whimsical, family-friendly Christmas city.
The iconic holiday film has come to live right here in the 713…with an H-Town twist, of course.
Facebook/Hou-Ville Not only will you see displays inspired by the movie, but also gingerbread houses, gift shops, Santa himself, and plenty of festive installations paying homage to Space City.
Perfectly staged photo-ops abound, so don’t forget your camera!
Facebook/Hou-Ville The Grinch, in all his mean and green glory, will make appearances every Friday-Sunday and the entire week of Christmas.
Take a peek into Santa’s Workshop to see what’s been keeping him and the elves busy.
Facebook/Hou-Ville From giant stuffed animals (with Houston jerseys, of course) to larger-than-life Rubik’s Cubes, everything is bigger in Texas.
Stop by the Hou-Ville bakery for a little something sweet.
Facebook/Hou-Ville Unlike in the movie, there’s plenty to eat here! Mr. Grinch didn’t wipe the cupboards clean this time around—he didn’t even take the Roast Beast!
Although it isn’t a food-centric event, local business The DoughCone has a chocolate and coffee truck onsite.
