Leaf-peeping opportunities within the park are plentiful and include everything from picnicking and hiking to attending the park’s annual fall events, such as Rock Creek Park Day, which is typically held in late September, and the Heritage Festival, which usually takes place in mid-October. What are the best pumpkin patches near Washington DC? Nothing says fall like a visit to a pumpkin patch. There are plenty to choose from in the DC area, including Sharp’s at Waterford Farm. Nestled in Brookeville, Maryland, it’s about an hour from the city.
