With most of the state experiencing its first cold front of the season by now, it’s safe to say we are officially in winter. While we may not have the intense winters the northern parts of the country experience, we do have some unwritten rules about surviving winter in Louisiana. If you are going to be living in Louisiana over the winter take notes.

  1. Dress in light layers.

  1. The rapid temperature swings mean you’ll get sick quite often.

  1. You could be in a sweater in the mornings and a tank top in the afternoon.

  1. Icy windshields mean spending an extra 15 minutes you probably didn’t account for.

  1. Most days, you can still pull off flip flops
