The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is worth a visit at any time of year. This 313-acre oasis in Athens is home to several gorgeous garden. It’s filled with native and exotic plants that bloom throughout the year, so there’s always something to see. However, there’s a special event around Christmastime that makes a winter visit especially magical. The Winter Wonderlights event started in 2021 and was an immediate hit for the garden. This dazzling display of Christmas lights in Georgia is absolutely wonderful and a blast for the whole family. It’s already garnered praise and won awards. The garden features 11 collections of plants, from Georgia and beyond. There are also five miles of walking trails to explore on the premises.

The light show features a half-mile decorated trail called Candy Cane Lane. Since it’s fully-accessible, everyone in the family can enjoy it.

The walk-through light show takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get through.

Cookies, s’mores, hot chocolate, and coffee are all available for purchase as you make your way down Candy Cane Lane.
