Palisades-Kepler State Park, Mt Vernon, IA: Palisades-Kepler is slightly east of Cedar Rapids and is one of the best state parks in Iowa. The campground at Kepler has options for tent, RV, and cabin camping. This state park is filled with amazing hiking trails and scenic areas to explore. Kent Park, Oxford, IA: South of Cedar Rapids is Kent park. You’ll enjoy hiking, fishing, and camping surrounded by lovely forests, prairies, and wetlands. So expect to see a lot of wildlife. There is also a man-made lake with a nice sandy beach at FW Kent Park to cool off in. Lake Macbride State Park: Lake MacBride is a 900-acre lake that offers plenty of recreational activities from swimming and boating, to fishing and kayaking. It’s simply a wonderful area to explore with waterfalls, streams, lakes, and forest hikes. Amana RV Park: If you are more of a fan of RV camping rather than tent camping the RV park in Amana is about 20 minutes from Cedar Rapids.
