If you’re in search of the best waterfall hikes in Arizona, it’s hard to beat this one. Nestled deep within the West Clear Creek Wilderness, Indian Maiden Falls via West Clear Creek Trail not only leads to a stunningly beautiful waterfall, but also boasts gorgeous views all along the way. It isn’t an easy hike by any stretch of the imagination, but the difficulty (combined with the relatively secluded location) means you’ll encounter far fewer people than some of our state’s easier – and thus, more popular – waterfall trails.

If you’re up for the challenge, the seven-mile Indian Maiden Falls via West Clear Creek Trail has an incredible payoff.

With an elevation gain of over 2,000 feet, this difficult hike is quite technical, involving several river crossings and a fair amount of rock scrambling.

The trail is undeniably worth the effort, however. Not only does it boast amazing views all along the way, but it also leads to a gorgeous waterfall that promises to take your breath away.

While the trail does feature a few smaller waterfalls before this one, they certainly pale in comparison. It isn’t every day you get the chance to marvel at such an awe-inspiring natural wonder.

If it’s a particularly hot day, feel free to jump in the water to cool off before hiking back out in the direction of the trailhead.

The pool surrounding the waterfall is just as pristine as the falls themselves. What a gorgeous color!

And when the sun sets over those iconic red rocks? Pure magic.

Make sure to begin your hike early – it’s an all-day affair, and the last thing you want is to be caught in the wilderness after dark. Also, you’ll likely need a high-clearance vehicle to access the trailhead, as the road is very rocky at points.
