There are many people here in Alabama that enjoy experiencing astronomical events throughout the year. If you’re one of these people, you don’t want to miss the upcoming Geminid meteor shower that’s only a few weeks away. To learn all about this upcoming meteor shower in Alabama, including the best time to watch, take a look below.
If you’ve ever wondered what a Geminid meteor is, wonder no more. A Geminid meteor is a unique space rock. What makes Geminid meteor showers so unique is the fact that they’re caused by asteroids, whereas most other meteor showers are caused by comets. Geminid meteors are also much bolder than other meteors.

Of course, to get the best overall view, watching from a dark-sky location is highly recommended. The darker the better!

And finally, as previously mentioned, Geminid meteors are very bold. They’re also quick and usually shine brighter than the moon. If the sky is dark enough during this celestial event, you might even witness up to 120 Geminid meteors per hour. Amazing!
