The most iconic of the statues is this golden sculpture, which is perched atop the 78-foot Pangborn Memorial Campanile.

The statue itself is 26-feet tall and overlooks the grounds below.

The Blessed Virgin Mary statue was originally commissioned in 1964 and created by Italian sculptor Marcello Tommasi. The gold-leafed sculpture was imported from Italy to Baltimore by boat, and then driven to its home today.

The iconic statue has been a fixture at the shrine for decades. People travel from all over to pray to it, and to marvel at its brilliant coloring, which glistens in the sun.

It was only recently taken down to be restored, and now sits atop the Pangborn Memorial Campanile once more.
