A recent study by the group Niche revealed the 33 safest cities in America, and one Colorado city has most of the rest of the nation beat. Boulder was named the 22nd safest city in the U.S. To determine the rankings, researchers looked at public crime data from the U.S. Census and the FBI. Statistics involving larceny, vehicular theft, and murder rates were all considered. Niche also took into account more than 100 million reviews from real people living in America’s cities. Here’s a closer look at Boulder, the safest town in Colorado.

This isn’t the first time that Boulder has had a chance to shine in the national spotlight. It was recently named the Happiest City in the U.S. and is known for its gorgeous mountain scenery and lively community.

It’s tucked away just 30 minutes from Denver in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and provides easy access to hiking trails and mountain climbing spots.

The city is also home to the University of Colorado, as well as 24 craft breweries and the historic Pearl Street, where visitors and locals can eat and stroll to their hearts’ delight.

It’s also considered to be the safest city in Colorado. Boulder has a population of about 105,420. Crime data shows that there are approximately 232 annual violent crimes per 100,000 people and 3,000 annual property crimes per 100,000 people.
