Approximately 70 years ago, give or take a little, an unobtrusive deli opened up in Huntington, West Virginia. That deli is still going strong and has become one of the best and most famous (and oldest!) delis in West Virginia: Cam’s Ham, founded in the 1950s in Huntington by Mr. Cambell Hage.
In fact, Cam’s Ham has become such a West Virginia icon that you’ve likely heard of it.

It even has its own signature dish: Cam’s Original Sugar-Flaked Ham Sandwich, which is famous near and far and comes with thin flakes of ham on a toasted Grecian bun with lettuce and a top-secret sweet sauce.

In fact, the folks at Food Network tried this particular sandwich and decided it was the best sandwich in the entire state!
