The Del-Bar is located in the heart of the Wisconsin Dells, one of the state’s top tourist destinations. The community has been drawing visitors since the 1800s.

The restaurant was founded by Jim and Alice Wimmer, who purchased a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. The business was for sale due to declining business during the war. Back then, it was a little cabin with just six tables and the venture was a bit of a risk for the young couple.

Their bet paid off very well. The restaurant became a big success and it drew a large and loyal following. The restaurant has received many great reviews and awards and diners compare it to the steakhouses of Chicago and New York.

The restaurant is now in its third generation of ownership and it’s no longer a little cabin. It’s a gorgeous Prairie Style building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé James Dresser.
