Are you a fan of trains in Alabama? We’ve got a real treat for you: a visit to Derailed Diner is an absolute must! When you think of train restaurants in Alabama, your mind probably goes to eating on a moving train that offers rail car dining. But Derailed Diner is something else entirely. Located in Robertsdale, this diner is part of the Oasis Travel Center and is open 24/7. It’s one of the most unique restaurants in Alabama, and if you love themed restaurants, you won’t want to miss it. This is definitely a spot you’ll want to hop on board this unique train restaurant in Alabama as soon as you can.
Eating at a truck stop doesn’t always sound appealing, but this is one eatery that is far more exciting (and unique) than you’d expect.
flickr/chapstickaddict After all, you don’t get the opportunity to dine in a train restaurant like this one very often!
Once you step inside, you’ll see what a unique experience this is.

This is a tailgating experience we’ll bet you’ve never had before!
The Oasis Travel Center and Derailed Diner Derailed Diner doesn’t rest on the laurels of its fun atmosphere alone. The food is just as incredible as the environment, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everything is prepared fresh from scratch. From buttermilk pancakes to stuffed biscuits, chicken fried steak to grilled country ham, there’s a little something for everyone at Derailed Diner. The portions are huge and the prices can’t be beaten.
Be sure to save room for Derailed Diner’s famous pecan pie cheesecake! It’s been included in Alabama Tourism’s guide to “100 Dishes to Eat In Alabama Before You Die,” and it’s easy to see why.

What are some other great unique restaurants in Alabama?
We’ve got plenty of great themed restaurants in the Heart of Dixie that are worth checking out. For example, there’s the super fun (and dog-friendly!) Pirates Cove. It’s great for summer and often hosts live music. And if you’re feeling nostalgic for years gone by, the Sunliner Diner is one of the best 50s themed restaurants in Alabama! When it comes to unique settings, it really doesn’t get much more special than the famed Rattlesnake Saloon…it’s in a cave.
What are some of the best family-friendly restaurants in Alabama? It’s easy to see why the cleverly-named Supper Heroes is popular with kids. Not only does it have a superhero theme and comic books on the wall, but there’s even a game room to play in while you await your meal (don’t worry, it’s open to diners of all ages) What are some more attractions related to trains in Alabama? If you love trains, Alabama is the place to be. Check out these beautiful trains throughout the state. We have plenty of lines that are still operational where you can take a trip through our beautiful state.
