Of course, some of the most well-known state parks like Tishomingo State Park and Buccaneer State Park tend to be some of the most popular, but there’s a lot to be said for some of the lesser-known parks in the state. This particular state park in Mississippi is a hidden gem that not many people know about, so you might get the entire park to yourself!
Walnut Grove is a tiny town of fewer than 1,000 people, but it just so happens to be the home of Golden Memorial State Park. Conveniently located to both Meridian and Jackson, this hidden gem of a park may be small, but it sure is scenic.

The park wraps around a 15-acre spring-fed lake that’s stocked with bass and bream, so feel free to bring your tackle box and do a little fishing.

There’s also a quick and easy hiking trail that just so happens to feature the second-largest loblolly pine tree in the state!
