Step back in time this holiday season in the charming town of Guthrie, Oklahoma. For over 35 years, Guthrie has been putting on an old-fashioned Christmas celebration reminiscent of the Territorial period. The Victorian architecture of the town, along with the celebration’s festivities and decorations, make Guthrie’s Territorial Christmas Celebrations one of the best holiday events in the state. Guthrie is known as Oklahoma’s Christmas Capital and for good reason. Every year they put on a month-long Territorial Christmas celebration that will take you back in time.

During the celebration, the town steps back in time to the 19th century and local residents, business owners, and visitors dress in Victorian-era attire.

Opening day for 2022 is November 26 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Small Business Sidewalk Sale and the Street Festival will line the streets of Downtown and kick off the celebration with shopping, food, drinks, games, and more.

Also held on November 26, is the Lighted Christmas Parade. The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. and runs from the Scottish Rite Temple to the State Capital Publishing Museum. Santa will be out and there will be lots of pictures to capture.

On December 3 and 10 the town hosts Victorian Walk Nights from 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Businesses stay open late and have special performances, “live” windows, treats, crafts, and more. The event is free but some businesses charge for special events they host.

People travel from all over the country to experience this Victorian-era celebration. Most people dress in costume which creates a very authentic experience for everyone.
