Geneva-on-the-Lake might have a small population of about 1,200 residents, but the charming Ohio town offers visitors a number of breathtaking attractions for the whole family. Since its settlement in the early 1800s, Geneva-on-the-Lake has been noted for its easy access to the Lake Erie shoreline and its bounty of natural attractions, as well as lots of tourism opportunities. Notable hot spots beyond nature include parks, restaurants, and arcades. Some of the local businesses have roots stretching back to the 1950s, when Geneva-on-the-Lake became a bonafide Ohio resort town.
According to the history books, Geneva-on-the-Lake’s origins as a resort town can be traced as far back as 1869. That year, local developers purchased lakefront property and created a public space for picnicking with beachfront access.

Eddie’s Grill is among the most popular establishments along The Strip. This iconic, longtime mainstay is known for its burgers and other straight-off-the-grill fare. The root beer, made the old-fashioned way (in barrels), is another crowd pleaser.

Geneva-on-the-Lake has a number of attractions that point back to its earlier years. For example, an old-room schoolhouse originally built in 1883 is still on display. It has been preserved in more recent years and is worth a glimpse to see what education looked like more than a century ago.
