Winter and ice skating go hand-in-hand. If you enjoy ice skating, there’s one great place that offers it in town. And while there’s no outdoor public skating, you can certainly go indoor ice skating during the public ice hours at Wallace Civic Center located on the campus of Fitchburg State.

Up for an outdoor adventure? How about a nice brisk hike or snowshoeing at Mass Audubon’s Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary? This 326-acre preserve has six miles of trails to explore and it’s absolutely beautiful covered in a blanket of snow.

In the winter months, the 250-acre Coggshall Park Mirror Lake turns into a winter wonderland. And it’s worth spending some time here, especially to see the frozen lake.

Perhaps the most fun of all, Fitchburg is home to the only Great Wolf Lodge in New England. And no matter the weather, this resort with an indoor waterpark in Massachusetts is a fun place to spend some time.
