Ice skating is a fun winter activity for the whole family! It can even be a year-round activity at indoor skating rinks. This 31,000-square-foot rink hosts hockey leagues for children and adults. Figure or hockey skating lessons are available on Tuesdays and Sundays. The rink is located at the corner of North Carson and West Robinson Streets, directly across from the Carson Nugget. The rink is run by the Carson City Parks and Recreation department. This outdoor seasonal rink is open from late November through late January. The price is $7 for adults, $5 for children 3-12 and skate rentals are $3 per pair.

The rink is decked out with Christmas decorations including some lovely Christmas trees. The main attraction is a beautifully decorated 30-foot tree. There’s a light show with music played every hour during the evenings. Hours vary so check their website for dates and times. Skate rental fees start at $16. You can also purchase tickets online. The Ice Rink at Greater Nevada Field is an outdoor rink run by the Aces Baseball team Ballpark. The rink is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 10 pm, and Sundays 10 am to 7 pm. Groups can reserve the rink for up to 300 people for $1,000 for their own special skate party. There are also group rates for skaters of 20 or more.

There are also “ice walkers” for an additional fee for children new to skating, or if you haven’t found your skating wings quite yet.
