Winter brings with it our fair share of snow and cold days, especially in Pennsylvania. However, winter also promises plenty of adventures that we can really only experience with snow on the ground – snow tubing, skiing, and snowshoeing. If you’re up for a really unique winter adventure, make reservations to go dog sledding in Pennsylvania.

Dog Sledding in Pennsylvania December 21, 2021 Tori Jane What are some fun things to do in winter in Pennsylvania? Pennsylvania gets plenty of snow every year, so basically, any of the classic winter favorites that you can think of can probably be done here! Here are some things to do in winter in Pennsylvania.
Go snow sledding or even dog sledding (bring the kids, too). Snow tubing is a popular activity. There are always plenty of local ice rinks to check out during the coldest months of the year. Snowmobiling is another local favorite. We also really enjoy skiing and cross-country skiing. Visit any one of Pennsylvania’s beautiful small towns, many of which love getting all decked out for the holidays. Some of them even look like something out of a Hallmark holiday movie (and we love it). You can also take a day trip to any one of our beautiful little getaways just perfect for the occasion.
What are some cool winter day trips in Pennsylvania to take? Honestly, if you can dream about it, you can probably day trip it in Pennsylvania. Here are several Pennsylvania state parks that transform into winter wonderlands.
Gouldsboro State Park is open year-round and is a great place for ice skating. Ohiopyle State Park is a gem that features breathtaking frozen waterfalls and more than 33 miles of amazing cross-country skiing opportunities. Valley Forge National Historic Park is yet another favorite; winter makes it especially enchanting, especially just after a good, solid snow. Hike the 30+ miles of delightful trails that are open year-round, and make sure to bring a camera, as there are plenty of very picturesque scenes all over the park.
You’ll feel like you stepped into a postcard in some places! For more ideas about things to do during winter in Pennsylvania, check out this article.
