In New York State, the wintertime may technically be our off-season, but it’s during this time of year that some of the best festivities and attractions come to life. Whether you’re interested in attending one of our annual festivals where ice castles are created or you’re ready to experience a local town transform into something similar to the North Pole, there are all sorts of ways to enjoy the Empire State during winter. Providing you with an outdoor adventure that won’t leave you freezing in the cold, see why you’ll want to hang out in one of the Montauk igloos overlooking the seaside at this one-of-a-kind resort.

Taking you all the way out to the end of the world, Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is a getaway unlike any other in our state.

While some will come to book a stay in one of the resort’s 107 waterfront suites, this winter you’ll find New Yorkers specifically making their way out to Gurney’s to reserve one of their themed igloos.

That’s right! Usually sometime in November all the way through March, Gurney’s will be hosting a festive pop-up igloo event where overlooking the seaside, you’ll find a handful of themed igloos.

Some of us will be lucky enough to score a reservation in the Santa’s Workshop igloo, where Christmas trees, twinkling decorations, and a mailbox for Santa await you.

Winter In New York November 02, 2022 Chris Dodge What are some other fun things to do in New York? Sitting in an igloo on the beach sounds pretty cozy and warm, but that is hardly the end of the fun that can be had in New York. If you know anything about New York then you know you can spend a lifetime in the state seeing and exploring all there is to offer and you still wouldn’t be able to do it all. So you have to be a little picky with what you choose to do. That is why we suggest only the coolest things here in our state. So if you like igloos then you are sure to love this unique geodesist dome for a night stay. You will have to bring your own air mattress but you can fit up to 16 of your closest friends for an unforgettable glamping experience. It may not be a geodesist dome, but you can stay in a bubble for another unique glamping experience. Spend a romantic night under the stars and camp in style. Maybe curling up with a nice book is more of your thing. Then we know of a book store that is like a book lover’s dream. With a sliding ladder to get up to the higher books to the cafe, this bookstore is a perfect place for any bookworm. For those of you who want to get outside and enjoy some fresh air then we suggest you visit Rocky Point Pine Barrens State Forest. This is a little-known park that is truly a hidden gem. With diverse landscapes and a variety to do, it’s a great way to get outside. When you need to stay the night, there are 15 places we would recommend for an unforgettable stay. It might be a beautiful backdrop or a unique treehouse, but there is no way you will forget these incredible places once you go.
