From hard work, devotion, and a tireless vision, The Mecca Restaurant still stands after 92 years. In early 1930, The Mecca Luncheonette opened at the corner of Fayetteville and Hargett streets in Raleigh, North Carolina, where customers purchased excellent meals for a good price. Back then, $1 bought you a T-bone steak dinner complete with a side salad, a Coca-Cola, and an ice cream sundae. In 1937, the restaurant, along with its original wooden furniture, was relocated to the current location. And while the food is still good and the prices fair, it is love that keeps people in the game, just as it has the family owning this longtime, iconic restaurant.
