Within this beautiful region, the Holmes County Trail is a scenic trail that’s a wonderful way to experience the splendor of Ohio Amish Country. With opportunities to walk, bike, or even take a buggy along this route, this trail is a delightful excursion at any time of the year.

Stretched across multiple counties and small rural towns in the central part of the state, Ohio Amish Country is home to the second-largest population of Old Order Amish in the world: an estimated 80,240 members.

While that number might sound like Ohio Amish Country is a bustling and busy region, it’s actually one of the most peaceful and serene places in the state; a community of hardworking people who warmly welcome visitors to come take a step back in time – quite literally, in fact!

The Holmes County Trail is a 15.7-mile point-to-point trail near Killbuck, Ohio, that traverses through some of the loveliest landscapes in the state, including dense wooded areas, historic sites, and covered bridges.

Instead of cars, you’ll be surrounded by buggies, and might even find yourself behind one while on the trail, so be mindful as you travel.

The Bridge of Dreams is a major point of interest on the trail. This 370-foot covered bridge located near Brinkhaven was originally built in the 1920s as a railroad bridge. It is the second longest covered bridge in Ohio (after the Smolen–Gulf Bridge) and third longest covered bridge in the country.
