Do you enjoy hikes with incredible pay-offs? Then you have come to the right place, as Colorado has many trails that lead to everything from waterfalls to scenic overlooks to ghost towns. If the latter caught your attention, read on as we explore this little-known, 6-mile hike to a ghost town in Colorado:
Welcome to Lulu City, a former mining town that - like many other communities of its time - went under when the mines dried up.

Situated in the upper Kawuneeche Valley in western Rocky Mountain National Park, Lulu City was once home to 200 residents and boasted many homes and businesses that would wind up deserted by 1885.

When you visit today, you will only find remnants from a long-forgotten time, including building foundations, a few log cabins, and what is left from one of the mines.

Lulu City can be accessed by taking the Colorado River Trailhead and heading north.

During your hike, keep your eyes peeled, as not only does the 6.2-mile path lead to the deserted town, but it passes under sky-high trees and through breathtaking Rocky Mountain National Park landscapes.

Please note: The trail is moderately challenging and is best used from May through October.
