When it comes to finding an overlook in Chattanooga, Tennessee, you have a lot to choose from. There are so many beautiful places all very close to the city. With Lookout Mountains and the Tennessee River all right in town, it may be hard to pick just one day hike. However, we found one place with such an incredible view it is worth the effort to get to.
Snooper Rock will take you to quite an unforgettable view. The scenery is simply breathtaking, and to get to this view, you will have quite a fun trail to hike along the way.

The Snooper Rock Trail is a 5.9-mile out-and-back hike with 1,167 feet of elevation gain.
Christopher Little/ Alltrails So this trail will take some effort to traverse, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t stunning beauty to find along the way. The large rock walls you will travel around and through are quite remarkable. As you hike through the woods, you will come across these sections which add a little bit of diversity to the trip.
As if the lovely forest, gurgling brooks, and rock walls were not enough, you will soon pass a staircase known as Indian Rockhouse.
Off-Trail Adventurer/ Alltrails This is an epic staircase where two massive rocks naturally split and a staircase was positioned through it. Walk on through and continue down the path to Snooper Rock.
Once you arrive at the end, the views are fantastic. The Tennessee River bends around the gorge below, and you will have a front-row seat to this amazing location.

You will have to travel down a long dirt road, and we recommend having a high-clearance vehicle. Once you park, the trail is only about a 10-minute long walk down to the overlook.
