In the 1870s, the Jemez Springs Bath House was originally built. Here people would come and bathe in the hot spring that is enclosed by rocks. The rocks were originally placed around the hot springs after a geyser erupted there.

The bath house created a bit of a draw to the area and those who were traveling the area would come and spend some time. Eventually, Jemez Springs became a popular resort destination.

People were drawn to the healing waters of the natural mineral hot springs here. It became so popular that a tent town was created to house the visitors.
