The mine features one of the world’s largest deposits of rock salt. The original shaft first started in 1922 and today, there are more than 150 miles of tunnels.

While an area of this salt mine is still open today, you can journey 650 feet below the earth’s surface to a portion of the mine where everything is exactly as it was nearly 50 years ago.

The Salt Mine Express is a train that will take you on a tour of this closed area of the mine. As you travel throughout this area underground, you’ll learn all about the history and the challenges of the mine.
