Near the end of WWI, the first Kewpee Hamburger shop appeared in Flint, Michigan. A decade later, Hoyt F. “Stub” Wilson and his wife Julia built the first Kewpee location in Lima, Ohio.

As downtown Lima grew, so did the burger joint. This structure built in 1939 was one of the first buildings in Lima, Ohio, to have central air conditioning, and it quickly became a favorite town hub.

Nearly a century later, three Kewpee Hamburger shops remain – and they are all located in Lima. These restaurants are a big point of town pride, in fact.
