Ice Skating In Ohio November 13, 2022 Sarah M. What are some other places for outdoor ice skating in Ohio? While Ohio is home to numerous indoor ice skating rinks that are open year-round, there’s something special about going outdoor ice skating during the cold weather months. In addition to the large outdoor rinks in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland, you’ll find numerous other small-town rinks open for the winter season, too. One of our favorites is the outdoor rink at Summit Park in Blue Ash, a small suburb that’s just north of Cincinnati. Small and family-friendly, this is a wonderful place to bring the kids for a day of fun, and the park also has a fantastic lineup of restaurants and other attractions to keep you busy all afternoon long! What are some places for skiing and snow tubing in Ohio? Prefer the slopes to the rinks? Then head to the largest snow park in Ohio: Mad River Mountain! This epic winter park is located about an hour north of Columbus, and it’s a must-visit for all fans of cold-weather recreation. With a total of four parks, each differing in size and activities, there’s truly something for everyone at Mad River Mountain. In fact, Capital Park is considered to be the Midwest’s #1 Terrain Park, according to OnTheSnow.com. Additionally, Mad River mountain is the largest ski and tubing resort in Ohio, featuring 144 acres total.  For those in the Cleveland area, there are numerous snow tubing parks and winter wonderlands available for all sorts of seasonal fun. Metroparks like North Chagrin Reservation and Lakefront Reservation are always delightful in the snow; Strongsville’s Mill Stream Run Reservation boasts an epic tobogganing run; and, of course, Cuyahoga Valley National Park is particularly lovely for wintertime hiking. If it’s been cold enough, you might catch some frozen waterfalls, too!
