Throughout much of the state, winter in Georgia is not famous for being very snowy. We may occasionally have major snowstorms and cold spells in Georgia, but overall, even our very northern regions of the state don’t get nearly the snow you’d find in New England or the Midwest. Still, it definitely snows in Georgia, at least in some parts, and one of the cities that typically gets the most snow in Georgia is Dallas, a northern suburb of Atlanta. The city is great for a day trip at any time of year, with plenty of places to explore and shop, but it’s especially magical in the winter, particularly if you’re lucky enough to see snow when you’re there! Just be sure to bring along your coziest winter travel essentials.
Dallas has a population of about 14,000. It’s northwest of Atlanta and has some really neat attractions, like Picketts Mill Battlefield Site.

Dallas averages between 2-3 inches of snow a year, which may not sound like much if you’re from a colder state, but it’s quite a bit for Georgia.

Fans of shopping will love The Dallas Markets. This collection of more than 250 antique and boutique vendors sells all kinds of treasures. Visit in the winter and you’ll find lots of holiday decor and potential gifts.

As for natural wonders in Dallas, we’ve got those, too! High Shoals Falls is a lovely (and very easily-accessed) waterfall that’s just off the road. It’s especially magical when frozen over!

If you want to see the city all decked out for the holidays, make sure to visit around Christmas. The historic downtown area is lovely all covered in lights.

One of the most beautiful buildings in Dallas is the Dallas Theater. This historic building was constructed in 1948 and hosts concerts and events as well as playing films.
