If you fear being stalked in the woods, it may behoove you to know about the legend of The Pigman out here in the forest before going on a hike. Whether you believe in spirits or not, fear can make anyone hear and see things differently than they should.

During the daytime, park visitors can enjoy kayaking, hiking, fishing, and plenty more activities all over the area. However, after nightfall, rumors have been spread that a spirit nicknamed The Pigman wanders the woods looking for anyone he can find.

A pigman is something more likely seen in a video game than out in the world, but two versions of the same story paint a harrowing picture of what has been spotted among the trees here. Strange happenings include stalkings, roaming in the distance, and appearing at the Pigman Bridge if you show up at the right time on a full moon.

According to legend, The Pigman is a malevolent spirit that has the face of a pig and the body of a man, just like its name implies. One story paints his origin as a man who was disfigured with an injury from an accident at a local explosives production plant during WWII. Shunned by his peers, he disappeared only to haunt the forest years later.

The other story paints The Pigman as a spirit more murderous than misunderstood, wearing the face of a pig and stalking park visitors to cause them harm. Though no one has presented injuries from any Pigman thus far, the thought alone keeps people away at night.

Whether either story is true or not will likely never be proven, but the spirit is enough to mark the park as haunted regardless. After all, you wouldn’t notice a figure in the distance until you suddenly can’t see anything else. Explaining the face of a pig is just another layer to the mystery.
