Hot Spring in New Mexico February 05, 2022 Tori Jane How many natural hot springs in New Mexico are there?   Did you know that the Land of Enchantment is home to at least 77 geothermal springs (also known as hot springs)? Yep – 77 of ‘em! You know what this means: all the more for you to explore. We’re inclined to agree! Some of the hot springs in New Mexico are luxurious works of art, with resorts and retreats built up around them. Others aren’t exactly people-friendly, being too hot or too infused with specific minerals to be safe or wise to soak in. Some of the resorts (which are always worth a visit) are resorts like the Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa, in Truth or Consequences, which has been around since the 1920s and offers up a relaxing, rejuvenating experience. If you prefer less resort and more nature, check out the San Antonio Hot Springs, nearby Los Alamos. Accessing these springs requires a hike of about five miles (or a four-wheel-drive vehicle), but we promise it’s worth every step. For more information about both of these hot springs in New Mexico and then some, take a look at this article.   What are some nice winter getaways in New Mexico?   You’d be amazed at how many amazing places and getaways there are in New Mexico. Typically, when people think about our state, they think of hatch chiles and Adobe buildings, of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and of things like delicious New Mexican food and eateries in just about every town – but maybe they ought to think of it as a great winter getaway destination as well. Turns out, there are plenty of awesome places to escape to when the weather gets cold; there are even a few ski resorts around the state! Taos Ski Valley is one of the most popular ski resorts in New Mexico, and Ski Apache, near Ruidoso, is the southern equivalent of Taos Sky. Go snowshoeing in Pecos Canyon. Visit one of our amazing small towns that goes all-out for the winter season, or fall in love with New Mexico’s beautiful desert landscapes while they’re dusted in a small amount of snow following a storm. New Mexico is truly beautiful; that’s part of why we say New Mexico true!
