With so many scenic areas in Connecticut, there are ample places to enjoy a good sunset. The same is true for the early birds among us and the elusive sunrise. If you enjoy the peace and quiet of a good sunrise you’ll love this list of the best places to see the sunrise in CT:
Gillette Castle, East Haddam, CT: Can you imagine the views you’ll enjoy watching the sunrise from the tower of a historic castle? No need to imagine it, just go visit. Haystack Mountain, Norfolk, CT: An early morning hike through the foothills of the Haystack Mountains is a sublime experience. It’s even better when the fog burns off and you are treated to a glorious sunrise. Lovers Leap, New Milford, CT: This sometimes-considered haunted overlook might seem like an odd place to enjoy the sunrise over a new day. But in its essence, it couldn’t be more perfect. As the sun rises, so too, do the souls of these two unfortunate lovers ascend into the heavens. Talcott Mountain, Simsbury, CT: The early morning views of Heublein Tower gleaming in golden hues is quite majestic, especially in the fall when the sunrise glows against Connecticut leaves bursting with color. Niantic Boardwalk, Niantic, CT: This iconic beach and boardwalk are simply divine in the early morning when Niantic Bay and Long Island Sound take on the shimmering pinks and oranges of the reflecting sun. It is also the perfect spot to round out the day with dark gold and lava orange hues bursting across the sky before nightfall.
