In the fall, or whatever amount of fall Kansas lets us have, we start thinking about holiday festivities and what sorts of things we’ll plan to do. After Thanksgiving, make sure to head out to enjoy the season’s festivities at one of the best Christmas light shows in Kansas. The Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead puts a lot of effort into the display, and it’s all for you. Come see for yourself! And let us know if these are in fact, some of the best Christmas lights in Kansas.
Welcome to Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, where for most of the year, you’ll find farm animals, a replica old town, and plenty of activities for young and old. However, when the holiday season comes around…

…they light up with color! They aren’t open for business after the fall, and when the weather gets too cold, neither the animals nor your kids will have fun at the petting zoo anyways.

This light show is more of a park-and-watch event, where you can show up at any display night.

Sit with friends and family and tune your radio to match the lights exactly! You control the volume, and they control the show.

Not only are the light shows synched to classic holiday music you love, but also movies and scenes you’ll recognize instantly.

They aren’t limited to flashing lights and colors, either. Sometimes you’ll see miniature pixel people interacting on the screen! It’s like a miniature movie night, but all holiday.

Generally, the show runs from after Thanksgiving to just after the new year, from 5-11 pm each night the lights are on.

Best Christmas lights in Kansas October 25, 2022 Chris Muras How long has Deanna Rose been around? The Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is a portal to what life was like on the Frontier in the early 1900s. Helen’s Country Schoolhouse is a replica of a typical one-room schoolhouse of the day showing children (and us interested adults) what it was like to go to school when our grandparents and great-grandparents had to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow. The Farmstead also has a blacksmith, mining camp, barber shop, and of course the farm itself with over 250 animals. Established in 1978 the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is a wonderful place to visit any time of year, but especially around the holidays when it is decked out in festive fun. What are the best Overland Park, Kansas Christmas lights? Other than our featured holiday event at the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, Overland Park has many fun holiday events to enjoy when Santa comes to town. One of those events that have been growing year after year is the Christmas on Bradshaw neighborhood event. The whole street gets in on the holiday fun with decorations, music, and even video screens filled with digital light shows. Hop in your car and take a festive light show tour down Bradshaw Street while listening to holiday tunes on the local radio station 99.9 FM. Are there any horse-drawn carriage Christmas light tours in Kansas? It’s almost like you can read our minds. Why yes, there are quite a few carriage rides through scenic Kansas towns around the holidays. There is nothing more enchanting than getting cozy with that special someone in a horse-drawn carriage as you are lavishly transported through light-filled streets with a dusting of fresh snow landing on your cheeks. We’ve put together a list of a few places in Kansas where you can find year-round horse-drawn carriage rides for a romantic old-time experience. Be sure to let us know what you think after your ride. Was it all you hoped it would be?
