We have an honest question: When you saw the title of this article, were you even surprised? Probably not. Colorado is famous for its terrible drivers and made-up “green means go, yellow means go, and red means you have another 10 seconds before you have to stop” rules, but when it gets national attention and ranks in the Top 20, you know we have issues. Check out where we rank in the list of the worst drivers in the US, as reported by Quote Wizard:

The rumors are true: For two years running Colorado Springs, is said to be home to the 16th worst drivers in America, coming in behind the likes of Bakersfield (#1), San Francisco (#5), and Fresno (#7). Um, California what happened?

How did Quote Wizard come to this conclusion? Factoring in traffic accidents, citations, DUIs, and speeding tickets, Colorado Springs ranked the highest in Colorado in overall incidents, with Denver coming in not far behind at #27.

You can only imagine what this does for car insurance rates in Colorado Springs and Denver.

Where can you go if you are scared to be on the roads in Colorado Springs and Denver?

Wikimedia Commons Some of the best drivers in America are in Louisville, Hartford, and Little Rock, as those are the top three cities. Chicago (pictured) fell from the number three spot to number 10.

On a lighter note: What would you guess is the most popular car in Colorado? Subarus, right?

Flickr/Christian Flores Wrong! Quote Wizard states the top 3 most popular vehicle makes and models for Colorado among Gen Xers are the Ford Explorer, Ford F150, and Honda Accord. For Millennials? Civic, Altima, and Corolla. Hmm. Mind = blown.

Best and worst drivers in the Nation January 05, 2023 Chris Muras Which city has the worst drivers? Bad drivers are all around us. Not us of course, but each city has them. Some cities are worse than others. While the city with the worst drivers changes year to year some cities just can’t fall out of the worst drivers list. Based on a number of factors such as the number of DUIs, how many speeders there are, the number of accidents, and overall citations these are the cities with the worst drivers in the US:

Bakersfield, CA Sacramento, CA Baton Rouge, LA Los Angeles, CA San Francisco, CA San Diego, CA Fresno, CA Riverside, CA Richmond, CA Jacksonville, FL

It seems California is trying to win the competition. However, this isn’t a competition one wants to win. If you spend any time driving in California, be careful out there. Which state has the best drivers in the US? There has been a pretty big shake-up this year on the best drivers list. With Louisville, KY moving up a spot to take the best driving spot and Lexington taking the 20th spot, one would think Kentucky would come out on top for best drivers. However, Oklahoma took two spots in the top five (Oklahoma City #4 and Tulsa #5), and Texas pulled off four cities in the top 20, a case could be made for either of those two states. Taking the state data as a whole tells another story. Here are the states with the best drivers based on the same factors as used above:

  1. Connecticut
  2. Michigan
  3. West Virginia
  4. Delaware
  5. Arkansas
  6. Kentucky
  7. New Hampshire
  8. Maine
  9. Louisiana
  10. Vermont Have you spent any amount of time driving in each of these states? Do you agree with the results?
