There is so much natural beauty to explore around the Evergreen State, and hiking is one of the best ways to do just that. In the rural community of Carnation, you can take a 2.5-mile trail within the Moss Lake Natural Area.

This trail will lead you through an upland forest where you may be able to spot birds of prey like bald eagles and red-tailed hawks. There is also a natural outdoor art installation along the path. However, the main attraction here is the lake.

Moss Lake and the wetlands that surround it are absolutely breathtaking. If you’re inclined, you can also bring a canoe or kayak with you to explore by water.

After hiking, do something different and visit Cascade Rose Farm, the largest alpaca farm in the greater Seattle metro area.

Booking a farm tour is the best way to learn about alpacas and what makes them so special. At the end of the tour, you’ll be able to hand-feed some of these adorable animals and take plenty of photos.
