Of all the cemeteries in Pennsylvania, the largest cemetery in the state – and one of its most historic – sits on the outskirts of Philadelphia and includes an abandoned mausoleum. The cemetery in question is called Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The historic burial ground serves as the final resting place for numerous notable figures, thousands of U.S. veterans, and many, many more. Perhaps the most interesting thing about Mt. Moriah Cemetery is that since 2004, it has sat in decay, unmaintained and its land unclaimed by any entity. The abandoned Pennsylvania cemetery is intriguing on its own, but is only more so when you learn of the property’s abandoned mausoleum.

Here you can find the gravestones of many notable individuals, such as William Burns Smith, who once was the major of Philadelphia, and Pat Deasley, a professional baseball player.
