We’re fortunate to have some of the best libraries in the country, including the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. For a unique experience, you might want to visit this Pennsylvania library that’s one of the most beautiful in the state.
A National Historic Landmark, Fisher Fine Arts Library in Philadelphia draws visitors from all over Pennsylvania and beyond.

After it opened in 1891, the historic library would serve as the main library for The University of Pennsylvania, a role it would hold until 1962.

Today, the Philadelphia library is officially known as the Anne and Jerome Fisher Fine Arts Library, in honor of the individuals who made a $50 million donation to the university.

More than $16 million of that money was used on a complete restoration of the library, which took six years and was revealed in 1991.

The historic library is home to more than 150,000 books, approximately 1,000 serials, and a collection of more than two-million digital images.

Visitors from around the world visit the library. If you plan to visit, you can usually do so during the work week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (You might want to call ahead to verify.)
