Welcome to Trail End State Historic Site in Sheridan. The site is most famous for the mansion that sits on nearly four acres of land. Known as “Trail End,” this mansion is truly spectacular.

John Kendrick, who served as both United States senator and governor of Wyoming, built the mansion to be his family’s home. Construction began in 1908 and was completed in 1913.

Despite being a wonderful home, the last member of the Kendrick family moved out in 1960. Afterward, in 1968, it was purchased by the Sheridan County Historical Society.

Today, the mansion acts as a beautiful museum for visitors to explore what life was like in Wyoming in the early 1900s.

With the exception of a few winter months, visits are open to the public throughout most of the year.
