Oscar Anderson was the 18th person to arrive in what was then known as “Tent City."

Oscar Anderson became a busy and active Anchorage businessman throughout the years, with meat packing, coal production, air transportation, and newspaper publishing all a part of his business portfolio.
His widow, Elizabeth Anderson, donated the house to the city in 1976.
Oscar Oneill / Google Maps It then went under extensive restoration from the years 1978 to 1982, before the home was officially opened as a house museum in Anchorage.
Because of Oscar Anderson’s role in the early history of Anchorage, and the architectural significance of the house, the home was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Admission is $10.00 per adult and $5.00 for children aged 12 and younger.

Visiting this unique museum is easy, as it is open all summer long from mid-June through mid-September.
