For a state that’s well-known for being landlocked, Tennessee does a great job making up for a solid lack of coastline. We recently discovered that the Machine Falls Loop Trail hides a waterfall in Tullahoma, Tennessee hides a whole handful of unknown waterfalls along its route, and we couldn’t wait to learn more. Check it out!

All Trails - Melissa Wollett Machine Falls Loop Trail is located in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and is recommended for hikers of all ages and skill levels. It’s not wildly difficult to trek through this chunk of the Tennessee wilderness, found in Short Springs State Natural Area, although it does get a little steeper towards the end of the trail closer to the falls.

It is relatively easy and a beautiful hidden spot once you get to the falls. If you want something more isolated, then check out the Red Fork Falls trail that leads you to a three-sectioned waterfall. It is steep and dangerous, but so worth the climb down. Blue Hole Falls is another great location for a quick spot and maybe even a dip in the blue pool. If you head south, you will be able to go into the Great Smoky Mountains where you can visit the ever-popular Laurel Falls. Check out Grotto Falls to walk behind a waterfall and maybe even see the llama train carrying supplies up Mount LeConte. If you head west again, you can visit one of the tallest waterfalls on the east side of our country at Falls Creek Falls State Park. But don’t stop at just one waterfall; this amazing state park actually has several amazing waterfalls. South of Nashville you will find a small waterfall called Jackson Falls. Then a little more south of that, you will find Stillhouse Hollow Falls.
