You may already know about Eugene T Mahoney State Park in southeastern Nebraska near Ashland – it was rated by ReserveAmerica as the #3 state park in the whole country. It’s an enormous complex with a water park, horseback riding, a toboggan run, cabins, and of course, camping. But there’s a part of the park that many families still haven’t tried out yet: the epic Mahoney State Park indoor playground.

The massive indoor playground has just about everything that kids love. There’s climbing, bouncing, sliding, hiding, ball pits, and all kinds of adventure.

Parents are welcome to join in the fun - be sure to wear socks because shoes aren’t allowed in the playground! - but there is also ample seating for parents who would rather watch the kids have all the fun.

The indoor complex lets families get out of the house and run off some energy even when the weather isn’t exactly cooperating. It’s a very popular place for birthday parties, too.

The nearby concession stand will keep everyone’s fuel tanks topped up during a play day. This is not a quiet place by any means, so don’t expect to sneak in some work while the kids are playing.

Even in the winter the indoor playground can get quite warm, so it’s a good idea to dress in layers. Kids with sensory processing issues may want to skip this one; it’s a loud, bright place with a lot going on.

If you’re up for even more indoor fun, the indoor ice rink pavilion is connected to the Activity Center. Bundle up and go for a spin around the ice to really enjoy the season in style - even when the outdoor rinks are still liquid.
