When searching for “abandoned places near me” to fly a drone, one might not expect to find a Texas quarry flooded after years of closure. And yet, this drone captured some of the coolest footage of this abandoned Texas quarry, with some surprises at the end.
Aerial photographer Michael Hess sent his drone skyward over an abandoned quarry in Texas and found a surprise submerged beneath the surface. Although the waters look calm and blue, three large pieces of construction equipment are drowned and nearly forgotten.
What started as a simple drone flight over an abandoned Texas quarry soon turned into an incredible discovery. Michael Hess, who filled the drone footage, came across pieces of equipment that were submerged under the water. What might not be distinguishable with the naked eye on the shoreline was quickly captured on film, creating the ultimate flyover adventure.
Was the quarry flooded quickly, and these vehicles couldn’t be saved? Were they simply too much of a hassle to remove? We may never know, but we can imagine how exciting it would be to go for a test flight and discover hidden treasure!
