There are so many great trails in Georgia that it can be difficult to sort through them all! Do you feel like a seaside stroll? Maybe exploring a historical site that will educate you while you walk? Or maybe you like the thrill of a long journey up a mountain? One trail that not many people know about is the Hardman Farm Heritage Trail. This one-mile ADA-accessible trail is full of educational benefits and will take you right from a historic site to one of the most charming small towns in Georgia. Check it out:

The Hardman Farm property is probably best known as the home of the Sautee Nacoochee Indian Mound. The large mound is visible from the road and is now in the middle of a cow pasture. It was used as a burial ground by Native Americans that once lived in the area.

What many visitors to the property don’t know is that the area is also home to the Hardman Farm Trail. This one-mile trail follows along the Chattahoochee River.

The trail connects the farm to the nearby downtown Helen area.

This is a pretty neat trail in its own right, even if you don’t take into account the fascinating endpoints at either location. The trail is completely accessible and has interpretative signs about the area and local wildlife.

Since the trail follows the path of the river, you’ll be accompanied by the soundtrack of babbling water throughout your journey.
