It seems like things used to be a lot simpler, back in the days when there were country stores in Kansas on just about every street corner. You could run up to the local general store and pick up whatever items you needed, or even get a sweet treat like a piece of candy or sweet fudge. You may think those days are long gone, but luckily, there are still several great country stores in the Sunflower State where you can experience just that sort of old-fashioned shopping trip, complete with dessert! One of our favorites is Kansas Country Store, a charming shop in Leavenworth that has all kinds of delightful home goods and also has a delicious bakery and fudgery serving up all kinds of tasty treats.

Kansas Country Store is about the most succinctly-named business you can find. It’s a 10,000 square foot shop that’s got everything you need for life in the country, with a focus on items to feed and care for pets and livestock.

However, it’s also got plenty of options for home decor and unique gifts. The store opened up in 2003 and has been a staple of the community ever since.
