Whether you’re an avid hiker with tons of experience exploring rough terrain or you just like to occasionally dabble out on the trails, there’s something wonderful about exploring a hike with the whole family. There are so many delightful family-friendly hikes in Georgia that are not too difficult for the kids to enjoy, but not so simple that they will bore the adults. One of our favorites is the Tumbling Waters Trail in Ellijay. This aptly-named trail will lead you to a great viewing platform over an absolutely stunning waterfall, and it’s perfect for any time of year. Check it out:

The Tumbling Waters Trail is a fairly easy 1.0-mile out-and-back trail that will only take most hikers about half an hour. The route follows along the river.

N C/Alltrails It does run beside a mountain biking trail, so make sure you’re sticking to the walking path to stay out of the way of any oncoming bikes.

If you’ve got young children, you might want to visit on a dry day. The ground can sometimes get a little slippery if it’s been raining a lot recently.

Other than that, this isn’t too difficult of a hike. You’ll come across a few roots and rocks to step over, but nothing too extreme, and there isn’t much elevation gain over the course of the trail.

The views are lovely and you’ll see signs pointing you to the two overlooks that let you take in the full scale of all this beauty.

Keep your eyes peeled: you never know what sort of critters you’ll come across along your hike.

The trail tends to be fairly secluded most of the time, so it’s a great place to go and enjoy nature.
