The North Georgia region has some fantastic small towns to explore throughout the year. Many travel to the area in the spring to see the beautiful wildflowers, or in the summer to escape the heat farther south. Even more are drawn in the autumn to see the most stunning fall foliage in the Peach State. One season that is sometimes overlooked here is winter, but this is an absolutely gorgeous region and many of these mountain towns come alive in the winter months. One of our favorite winter towns in Georgia is the little city of Blairsville. This town is at the very northern border of the state and is one of the best places to celebrate winter in Georgia.
Blairsville is the county seat of Union County, but this small town only has a population of around 600. You might think that means that there isn’t a lot going on here, but you’d be wrong.

The scenery here at any time of year is second to none. The city is located within the Chattahoochee National Forest, a massive natural preserve that has no shortage of mountain vistas.

The area is rural and provides a wonderful escape from city life. It feels like a trip back in time to simpler days here.
