This Trail Takes You To A Peaceful Wichhita Mountains Waterfall

Hiking trails are plentiful in Oklahoma but waterfalls are not, which is why we love to share when we find hidden ones. Tucked away in southern Oklahoma is a Wichita Mountains waterfall only accessible by the Forty Foot Hole Trail – a 1.4-mile loop trail that is open year-round. It’s surrounded by some of the prettiest topography in the state and worthy of a day trip.

The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge is home to over 15 designated hiking trails and nearly 60,000 acres of beautiful land that is a refuge for many animals.

The Forty Foot Hole Trail is only 1.4-miles long and will take you to a gorgeous hidden waterfall and river - this is truly one of the most magnificent places on Earth!

The scenery is epic with views of the canyon - but be careful, as there are some steep drop-offs from the top of the cliffs.

The trail is rated as easy, but there is some moderate elevation gain, and it’s not a graded or accessible trail. Past hikers say it’s great for all skill levels and dogs are allowed on a leash.
