Hoosier State lovers of steak and chops have another reason to celebrate right now: we found another incredible Indiana steakhouse that must be added to the ol’ foodie bucket list as soon as humanly possible. It’s not your average steakhouse, though – it’s an old, repurposed horse stable, and trust us – the inside is so unbelievably beautiful you’ll have a tough time believing horses ever slept there. This unique steakhouse in Indiana is a must-do for food fans everywhere – check it out!

Once upon a time, the horses that boarded here were tasked with something very important: delivering beer for the Terre Haute Brewing Company.

Xentix/TripAdvisor The entryway was originally constructed in 1890. The stables were removed in the 1920s, though (thankfully), and the place was cleaned up and turned into a restaurant with much of its original woodwork in place.

The original stables were carefully re-created in gorgeous local wood for the interior, and overall, dining here is an experience rather than simply supper.

Stables Steakhouse/Facebook Stables serves up only the best Black Angus beef for their steaks, and no matter which one you order you’re in for a thrilling adventure for the taste buds.

Every dish, from the salmon to the steaks, is perfectly prepared exactly how you like it.

Mike B/TripAdvisor Truly, the menu is as delicious and unique as the intricate interior of the restaurant. Folks drive from all over the Midwest to experience Stables Steakhouse, and we don’t blame them.

It’s worth the trek, and then some.

Stables Steakhouse/Facebook You wouldn’t be the first legendary person to walk through its doors. Many celebs and politicians have had a meal or two here, and rumor has it you might have even been able to catch John Dillinger here from time to time back in the day.

Every aspect of your meal is truly a delightful, unique encounter, making an evening spent at Stables an evening well-spent indeed.

Stables Steakhouse/Facebook Even the drinks are spectacular, as beautiful as they are delicious, and the wine selection is to die for. Ask your server for the best pairings and they’ll be able to tell you; the staff is knowledgeable and loves what they do, and it shows.

So, sure, maybe this place used to be somewhere horses slept and went about their daily lives…

EricaBT/TripAdvisor …but now it’s a place where WE can go about our daily lives, except with a gigantic, juicy steak in front of us instead of hay bales.

So, what do you think? Have you ever been to this gorgeous and unique steakhouse in Indiana? Tell us what you thought about your meal in the comments!
