If you’ve got a dog, you know it’s a great outing when you get to take him or her along with you on an adventure! There are plenty of dog-friendly places in Missouri and one of our very favorites is the Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Columbia. This 73-acre community park is a blast for adults, kids, and dogs alike! If you have a friendly dog who loves getting outside, this is a spot you don’t want to miss.

Twin Lakes is a lovely place to go for a walk, whether you have Fido with you or not. There are gorgeous woods, trails, and, of course, lakes to show you all of Missouri’s magical side.

The park features not one, but three separate off-leash dog parks!

The four-acre Lakeside Dog Park is open from spring to fall and allows friendly dogs of all sizes to frolic and play in a safe, fenced area.

CJ MacIntosh/Google Maps The park is fenced on three sides and bordered by a 16-acre lake on the fourth side. Dogs are welcome to jump in the lake for a swim if they like!

Because the lake is dangerous in the winter and dogs are at risk of falling through the ice, there’s also an off-season dog park that’s open from December to February.

Ossian & Koda Gibson/Google Maps The fun doesn’t have to stop just because the season is cold. This 3.3-acre park provides a safe haven for dogs in the winter.

There’s also a three-acre Paws Pond Dog Park with its own little pond. This park is for small dogs only, so the little ones are able to play without roughing it with larger dogs.

This is such a beautiful and fun park! You’ll have as much fun walking through it as your dog does.

Dogs who love the water will be in heaven here. Next time you want to reward your pooch, head on out to Twin Lakes!
