Whether winter is giving you a case of cabin fever, or the lure of warm weather is too good to pass up, Washington’s best hot springs are an idyllic way to get out into nature and soak away your troubles! This season, stretch your legs by taking a short, easy hike to Baker Hot Springs in Northern Washington. These primitive springs are rustic, peaceful, and provide plenty of piping hot relaxation far away from the hustle of the city.
Tucked away in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Baker Hot Springs consists of two of all-natural geothermal pools in the trees.
Natasha Roslosnik/AllTrails The trail is located near the town of Concrete. To reach it, you’ll take WA-542, otherwise known as Mt. Baker Highway.
The trail itself is easy, short, and a breeze to walk, totaling about 0.6 miles. More of a jaunt, really!
Jude Ifer / alltrails.com That being said, the road to reach the trailhead is often treacherous, and winter weather can make the drive — and the hike — very difficult. Watch the forecast before you go and take a vehicle that can handle tough terrain.
Once you find the trail, you’ll soon come upon a simple marker…

…and that’s when a blissful soak will await you.
Ed Heyman/AllTrails You can soak surrounded by cedars and Douglas fir, in a pool that runs from warm to very hot (test the waters first). Since you may be soaking with others, families included, be aware that these pools are “officially” clothing optional.
If you don’t mind a rustic experience, soaking here can be amazing.
Togna Bologna/GoogleMaps There’s something relaxing about enjoying the sights and sounds of the great outdoors from one of nature’s own personal hot tubs!
While every season at Baker Hot Springs is rejuvenating, there’s something extra magical about winter. Don’t you agree?
