Stroll through its 500 acres and you’ll be amazed at sculptures big and small. The center features both permanent exhibits and temporary installations, so there’s always something new to see. At the New York State Museum in Albany, you’ll find the Cohoes Mastodon, first displayed in 1867 – making it the first life-size restoration of an American mastodon in the world. In the town of Millbrook, visit a replica of a medieval castle – and even take a guided tour – at the charming Wings Castle, which resembles something out of a fairytale. Artists Peter and Toni Ann Wing began building the castle back in 1970, and it later became a bed and breakfast. There’s even a museum onsite of antique memorabilia. What are some interesting roadside attractions in New York state? If you’re looking for more weird places in New York to visit, why not put some roadside attractions on your bucket list? Head to Long Island to visit The Big Duck, a ferrocement building in the shape of – you guessed it – a friendly, yellow-beaked duck. This 28-foot-tall steel and fiberglass statue memorializes the dog whose image became part of the logo for multiple audio recording companies.
